The eight‑storey Boston University Sydney Academic Centre at 15‑25 Regent Street, Chippendale, combines three- and four‑bedroom cluster apartments with classrooms, offices and a library. Boston University has occupied the building since 2011 as the base for its Sydney Study Abroad Program.
The Living Co plans to refurbish the accommodation and communal areas and activate the ground floor with retail before offering the rooms to the open market under its Scape brand.
Knight Frank's negotiated the off‑market sale on behalf of TJAC, which had owned the property since 2009.
Strategic context
The acquisition takes Scape's PBSA portfolio under ownership and management to more than 5,000 beds and adds scale close to Sydney's leading universities.
Refurbishing an operational asset gives The Living Co a faster route to market than ground‑up development while preserving income and value‑add potential. Offering the rooms beyond Boston University's study‑abroad cohort broadens the leasing base and allows Scape to capture demand in undersupplied inner Sydney. The deal also reinforces The Living Co's strategy of consolidating PBSA assets in high-demand urban education precincts.
