Planning consent for Prince Bishops Place was first secured in 2024, with a revised application submitted earlier this year to enhance the scheme through increased student capacity and refined design.
The mixed-use development will deliver 504 student beds, alongside retail and hospitality space, high-quality communal areas and improved views across the River Wear, while retaining the existing multi-storey car park.
Strategic context
The contract exchange marks a further step in Landmark Properties’ strategy to deliver between four and six PBSA and residential developments annually.
Having entered the UK market in 2024, Landmark completed its first land acquisition in 2025, securing a prime site on William Road in central London. More recently, the company obtained planning consent for a major redevelopment at 120 Suffolk Street, set to provide 504 student beds.
Globally, Landmark Properties manages a portfolio of more than 74,000 student accommodation units.
Landmark Properties was advised by Newmark, while the sellers were represented by Savills and Harris Associates.
