Sonar Real Estate has brokered the off‑market sale of an 11,000 sq m site in Potsdam on behalf of a pan‑European property investment manager. The property, which includes listed coach houses, was acquired by HPF Real Estate gGmbH, which plans to carefully restore the historic buildings alongside the development of student accommodation.
Subject to approval from its governing bodies, Studierendenwerk West: Brandenburg is slated to operate the new student hall of residence.
Strategic context
Prior to completing the sale, Sonar had prepared residential plans for the site, which replaced an earlier office‑led concept. HPF’s acquisition builds on these plans with a focus on student accommodation, complementing its involvement in Potsdam’s broader university campus development.
At the same time, the reuse of the listed buildings makes heritage integration a key delivery factor as well as an architectural feature. As building approvals are still required, the completed land purchase does not yet mean that construction can begin.
