UK, Manchester: Unite and Manchester met join forces for £390 million student accommodation revamp

A major student housing redevelopment is on the cards for Manchester, as Unite Students and Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) sign a £390 million joint venture to deliver over 2,300 new student beds. The scheme will see the complete regeneration of the university’s ageing Cambridge Halls site, which will be closed this year. Originally constructed in the 1990s, the current low-rise accommodation blocks, providing around 770 bedrooms, will be demolished to make way for a modern student living complex.
France, Annecy: 298 sustainable student housing units delivered in 2026, a pilot project for responsible construction in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

On May 6, 2025, the laying of the foundation stone of the new Annecy university residence marked the start of a major project led by CDC Habitat Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in partnership with Crous Grenoble Alpes, Grand Annecy and Bouygues Bâtiment Sud-Est. This project aims to create 298 student housing units in the future Place des Romains district, with delivery scheduled for July 2026.
US, Tampa: Florida student housing asset receives $97 million in financing

Commercial Street Partners has obtained approximately $97.4 million in financing for Apella on Newport, a 576-bed student housing community in Tampa, Fla. The three-year, floating-rate loan was provided by MF1/Limekiln Real Estate Investment Management.
UK, Nottingham: Construction starts on town's tallest building - and it's going to be student flats

Work has started on the construction of a Nottinghamshire town's tallest building, which will be an eight-storey student complex. The development is now being built on the former car park on Station Road, Beeston, by the Arc Cinema. The towering building will boast 419 studios and will become the tallest structure in the town once completed.
UK, London: tp bennett wins approval for student tower at Canada Water

Southwark Council has approved tp bennett’s plans for a 25-storey student tower in Canada Water, south London, replacing earlier designs for offices on the site. The latest tower to join the regeneration area will feature 742 student rooms.

International developer Pembroke has acquired a build-to-rent (BTR) site in Melbourne’s Fitzroy from Greystar, marking its first BTR project in the country. The 2,600 square metre plot has an existing permit for a masterplanned BTR development of 200 apartments across 11 storeys.

Rather than demolishing the unloved buildings Capital&Centric are giving them a major reboot, and creating one-of-a-kind residential led-neighbourhoods. It’s thought to be the first time in the UK that a car park or shopping centre has been repurposed in this way and shows a radical approach to urban placemaking. Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council (NULBC) approved the landmark plans, paving the way for 328 new homes, improved places to shop and revitalised hang out spots for the community at Carpark (former Midway Car Park), Rye Park (Ryecroft), and Astley Place (York Place Shopping Centre).

Fellowship Communityin Whitehall has announced plans to build three luxury apartment budlings on its 65-acre campus. According to Mary Kay McMahon, president and CEO of Fellowship Community, each building will include 24 apartments ranging in size from 1,050 to 1,450 square feet and will feature smart home technology.
