UK, Leeds: 'Landmark' 1000-bed city student scheme approved

A developer has gained planning permission to build a 1000-bed city centre student accommodation hub. Town Centre Securities has been backed to transform Leeds’ 1960s Wade House office block and create a neighbouring 37-storey high-rise.
UK, Birmingham: McAleer & Rushe, MRP, and VITA Group have topped out a new £85 million PBSA development in Birmingham

McAleer & Rushe, MRP, and Vita Group have celebrated a significant construction milestone with the topping out of their new £85 million purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development on Gough Street, Birmingham. The landmark scheme, constructed by design & build contractor McAleer & Rushe, is being developed by MRP under a forward funding agreement with urban regeneration specialist Vita Group. The topping out ceremony took place on Thursday 5th June, bringing together key stakeholders and guests to celebrate this significant stage of progress. Once complete, the development will provide 540 premium Vita Student studio apartments across two towers of 10 and 29 storeys.

US, New York: Colgate U. lands $105 million for student housing campus

Six alumni gave Colgate University a total of $105 million to support the construction of an extensive student housing neighborhood, called Lower Campus, that will include renovated student housing, several new residence halls for juniors and seniors; a park and other green spaces, and an events center. Chief among the gifts is $50 million from Peter Kellner, a retired financier and former managing director at Morgan Stanley & Company.

UK: Pegasus moves closer to rental-only later living model

Pegasus Homes has reached the next stage of its transition from a for-sale developer in the later living space, to a later living build-to-rent (BTR) developer and operator. The company, which is part of the Lifestory Group, announced in 2023 that it had secured a significant investment loan facility with Barclays, to support its growth as a dedicated BTR developer and operator.

Plans for a major offices-to-coliving development close to the Barclays campus and Glasgow's city financial services district have been lodged. Copperstone Partners 2, a joint venture between residential developer Ideal Holding Group and The Co-Living Company, is under offer to buy 100 Morrison Street in Glasgow, an 137,764-square-foot office building which is being sold by a private family office advised by MC2.

They will be affordable and permanent public housing, according to the minister. Sepes Entidad Pública Empresarial de Suelo, a company attached to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, has tendered this week the building projects of 1,092 homes in twelve residential actions throughout the country, to which are added the 596 already tendered, reaching a total of 1,664 homes.

US: Vincent Cos. buys St. Anthony senior facility for $12.4M

A St. Anthony senior care facility has been traded between two Twin Cities metro-based companies for $12.4 million, according to a recently released certificate of real estate value. The Legacy at St. Anthony, a senior living community with 73 units spread across four floors, was sold by Lang Nelson & Associates to the Eden Prairie-based Vincent Cos.
