UK, Manchester: Student accommodation regeneration begins in Fallowfield with Owens Park Tower demolition

Preparations to build are getting underway on the site of the Owens Park Tower, as part of The University of Manchester’s wider regeneration of the Fallowfield Campus. The Tower was taken out of service in 2021 with demolition beginning in 2024. It was completed in Spring 2025, with the demolition carried out by Manchester-based company P. O’ConnorModern and high-quality student accommodation will be built on the site, bringing the wider Fallowfield Campus offering up to 5,400 student beds. The project will deliver 3,300 updated bedspaces as well as replacing some of the existing accommodation.

Spain, Zaragoza: Zaragoza will add 1,900 places in university residences, but another 5,100 are needed

The investment boom in youth residences in Zaragoza will increase the supply by 1,859 places over the next two years, adding to the existing 2,200 beds, which range from private accommodations to halls of residence. Despite this expansion, the University of Zaragoza estimates that around 5,100 more beds would still be needed in the Aragonese capital alone to meet demand in this sector.
