Australia: Salinity concerns lead community push against proposed co-living space on Edward Street

Wagga Wagga City Council will soon deliberate on the development of a planned 50-resident co-living space on Edward Street amid fears of potential salinity damage to surrounding residents. The plans for the building include the demolition of two homes at 322 and 324 Edward Street and constructing an $8.7 million co-living space on the site, near Wagga’s hospitals.

At the Saumur Val de Loire Agglomeration (Maine-et-Loire) community council meeting on Thursday, July 3, 2025, the Le Plus training center expansion project was discussed, with the creation of a new space, combined with housing with Saumur Habitat. Completion is expected for the start of the 2027 school year.
UK: HG secures first Birmingham PBSA job

HG Construction has secured its first project in Birmingham after the contractor was appointed by Fusion Group to deliver a 622-bed student accommodation scheme. The development, located on Bristol Road, will comprise four blocks ranging from eight to 17 storeys.

Ghent University has given the green light to start negotiations to purchase or rent additional student rooms at four sites in Ghent. With this, the university has reached a new milestone in its master plan for student housing: the future housing supply for UGent students will be expanded by no fewer than 1,700 units.

Spain: Gestilar completes the delivery of 742 homes to DWS of its 'Build to rent' (BTR) alliance

The real estate developer Gestilar has successfully completed the promotion of 742 homes for rent in Getafe (Madrid). The project is part of one of the largest build to rent (BTR) operations in the country agreed with the DWS manager in 2021 to promote more than 1,000 homes around Madrid. The first delivery of housing in the development was made at the end of 2024 under the name Casa Dumont, with 262 apartments. The delivery of 480 units is now added and completes the project of a total of 742 homes with one to three bedrooms and 5,000 square meters of common areas (swimming pools, green areas, gym, coworking space and exclusive gastronomic space) in the Rosón area in Getafe, near the campus of the Carlos III University (Casa Amy).

UK: Get Living reports loss after setting aside £411 million to remediate Olympic park block

Get Living has reported a loss after setting aside £411 million to cover fire safety remediation costs relating to the former London 2012 athletes village in Stratford, east London. The East Village site includes more than 3,000 homes across blocks of between eight and 12 storeys. The 4,500-home build-to-rent (BTR) landlord, in its accounts for the year to 31 December 2024, reported a loss of £153.2 million. This follows a larger loss of £385 million the previous year.

US: Senior housing facility in St. Paul sells for $28M

The Seven Hills Senior Living facility on Selby Avenue in St. Paul has traded for $28 million, about $4 million more than it cost to build the asset five years ago. A certificate of real estate value released this week reveals that an entity related to Irvine, California-based American Healthcare REIT purchased the 101-unit facility from PDMC LLC, a joint venture of St. Paul-based Premier Development and Mesaba Capital Partners.
