Spain, Barcelona: Hines buys a residential building in Barcelona's Porta Diagonal from Sacresa for almost €90 million

Hines is preparing the acquisition from Sacresa of the hotel tower project in Porta Diagonal, in the Finestrelles sector, in Esplugues (Barcelona). The US fund's project is to convert the asset into a student residence and operate it under the Aparto brand. The building has a hotel and aparthotel license, and Hines plans to serve as accommodation for students and young professionals.

UK, Swansea: New 370 bedroom student accommodation scheme in Swansea reaches construction milestone

Construction work on a new 370 bedroom student accommodation scheme in Swansea has marked its highest point with a topping out ceremony. The Ty Nant project, which is being forward funded by EQT Exeter, is being delivered by Bangor-based developer Watkin Jones.

Culmia recently acquired two lots from the 'Affordable Rental Plan' from the Madrid City Council and a lot from the 'Plan Vive II' and the first phase of the 'Plan Vive' - a batch of 1,763 homes. In all of these projects, the company is going to invest a total of 515 million euros.

Watkin Jones and Legal & General have started on a new project at the former Brains Brewery site in Cardiff Quay. The scheme will feature over 715 BTR apartments as part of the wider €1.2bn regeneration project in the Welsh capital.

France, Martot: Next to Pont-de-l'Arche 126 housing units for seniors by 2024

The former Ehpad de Martot (Eure), closed since 2015, will be converted into a residence for independent elderly people. Delivery is planned for the end of 2024. In the Château de Martot park, 126 accommodation units with an area of approximately 45 m2 are under construction in the building of the former nursing home near the Elbeuf hospital center. Project led by Batipro, based in Bois-Guillaume (Seine-Maritime). The former Ehpad, which was bought by the Seine-Eure agglomeration in 2016, was then sold to Batipro to create housing for seniors.

Germany: Specht buys three nursing homes in Lower Saxony

The Specht Group acquires three retirement and nursing home facilities in Lower Saxony from the Altenheim-Stiftung Lotto, Hanover. On the one hand, it concerns facilities in Emden (Am Heuzwinger 10) and Einbeck (Walkemühlenweg 11-15), in which Specht acquires the operating companies in addition to the respective properties, and on the other hand, a retirement home in Garbsen (Kochslandweg 29). All three facilities are to be energetically renovated.

Spain, Galicia: This will be the new residences for the elderly that Amancio Ortega is going to build in Galicia

Amancio Ortega donates 90 million for the construction of seven residences for the elderly. New and modern Galician public residences are already under construction and could soon become a reality. The Amancio Ortega Foundation donated 90 million euros four years ago to build, finance and equip seven public residences with 150 to 120 beds for the Xunta de Galicia with state-of-the-art equipment.
