The portfolio comprises student residences in Madrid, Granada and Valencia with more than 1,400 beds. Merkel Capital developed the properties and will continue operating them through Vibe Stay, preserving continuity for residents and local teams after the ownership change. The sale follows earlier disposals by Merkel as it recycles capital from completed developments.
The assets give Westwind a diversified position across three large Spanish university markets.
Strategic context
Westwind gains immediate scale in an undersupplied and increasingly institutionalised student housing market.
Merkel retains the operating relationship and can redeploy capital into its next development cycle, separating property ownership from operations while keeping Vibe Stay embedded in the portfolio.
