Germany: Scarce supply of rental apartments will stimulate demand for purchase

Asking prices for existing apartments fell nationwide by 2.3% in Q1/2023 compared to the previous quarter, for the third quarter in a row. However, there are no indications of a crash. Condominiums in Berlin declined only slightly (-0.2%), while rents went up 5% over the past three months and 19.7% over the past year.

Build to Rent sector recorded this strong recovery following total volumes in 2022 equating to around £4.3bn. Around 75% to 80% of investment activity was outside of London – around major regional cities such as Manchester and Birmingham.

Czechia, Prague: Česká spořitelna to build low-rent flats with FINEP in Prague

Česká spořitelna has started to build affordable apartments with low rents for employees that cities lack. The first such apartment buildings with 254 flats are already taking shape in Prague 9, built by a subsidiary of the bank DBČS with the developer Finep for €42.7 million.

The "Burgunderviertel" residential project is presented on its website with lots of greenery, flowers and people gardening. Different forms of living in a neighborhood. A total of 440 residential units were planned for two years, says David Becker. He is the managing director of the real estate development company EGP. In order to attract many people such as seniors, singles and families, the developers have created different forms of housing. This means that not only multi-family houses will be built, but also small single-family houses, micro houses (approx. 80 m² living space), semi-detached houses and a house for assisted living.

UK, Bedworth: Plans for 455 home development in Bedworth set for green light

The green light is set to be given for a new 455 home development on field land in Bedworth. Last year, Richborough Estates, in partnership with the Nicholas Chamberlaine School Foundation, put in the application for a large swathe of land on Hospital Lane. Now officers at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council are recommending that the application, which is for up 455 homes, a District Centre including up to 55 senior living units and associated infrastructure and open space, is given the go-ahead.


Germany, Fürth: The new construction of a 51-house rental center in Würzburger strasse has begun

According to plan, G + S Bau GmbH, as the builder and developer, has just started the new construction of a senior center with 51 units in Würzburger Straße on the 5,500 square meter site of the old Rewe market and the residential building at number 58, which has been cleared of building fabric. The construction period is 18 months.
