Toledo Provincial Council acquires former nursing school for university residence
11 August 2026 | Asset Acquisition | Spain | 200 beds | Re-development
The public‑sector acquisition secures a vacant education building for conversion into a larger university residence serving students from across Toledo province.
Key details
Asset type | Re-development |
Location | Toledo, Spain |
Capacity | 200 beds |
Seller | General Treasury of Social Security |
Buyer | Toledo Provincial Council |
Value | € 2.05 million |
The Toledo Provincial Council signed the purchase deed for the former School of Nursing in the Palomarejos district, paying the price set by Spain's General Treasury of Social Security.
The 4,832 sq m building comprises a semi‑basement, ground floor and three upper floors, together with 779 sq m of gardens, and has been out of use. Earlier feasibility work indicated scope for 200 rooms, although the final capacity will depend on the refurbishment design.
The Council financed the purchase through a long-term loan from Banco Santander and will now move into the building-adaptation stage.
Strategic context
The acquisition expands the Council's ability to provide publicly backed university accommodation beyond its existing 92‑bed Santa Maria de la Cabeza residence, which received around 300 applications in the latest cycle.
Reusing a dormant public building should shorten the route to delivery compared with a ground‑up scheme, while anchoring investment in the Palomarejos district. The project is intended to reduce accommodation barriers for students from smaller municipalities across Toledo province and strengthen the city's public student‑housing offer.
